Affiliation Fees - 20th April 2012

In 2011 the FNQGA Executive took legal and financial advice around FNQ Clubs and Courses responsibilities relating to the payment of golfers affiliation fees.

These fees are paid by golfers when joining or rejoining a Club. The FNQGA does not receive the total amount of fees paid by golfers; of the fees paid in 2011, the FNQGA received only $15.00 per player with the balance passed onto Golf Qld and Golf Australia.

This plan was instigated to relieve the onus on Clubs in managing these members funds. This was done to ensure that Golf Clubs were not placed in a position of being unable to pay when due, funds that they had already received from golfers.

In affect, Clubs are paying money that they have been paid already.

These details were clearly outlined to Clubs (see attached) as well detailed at the 2012 FNQGA Annual General Meeting.

Further to this, all Clubs are required to pay in full affiliation fees outstanding by the end of March of each year, for those that they were paid from the previous year (March 2012 payment is for joining or rejoining golfers from 2011).

A majority of Clubs pay in full by the FNQGA Annual General Meeting held in February usually.

Any Clubs that have not paid by the end of March then face a number of actions that can affect their members golfing benefits such as but not limited to; their members handicaps suspended, their ability to host competitions under the Golf Australia Handicapping System and their members unable to play in club competitions, either at their home course or other courses.

These are not actions that the FNQGA would or want to have happen, but as all Clubs are aware the payment of these fees happens the same time each year. The FNQGA, like all other organisations and businesses have to comply with regulatory requirements, and one of these is the collection and payment of fees by due dates.
